Working in Career Coaching, the Side Hustle has often been the solution to seemingly insurmountable career hurdles for my clients, but its still a relatively unused practice. I am a HUGE fan of the Side Hustle, so I’d like to properly introduce you to the concept and if you have a big idea you'd like to try, maybe it could work for you.

Ever since I trained as a Coach in 2012, the most common question I am asked is; 'What exactly is Coaching?', so I thought I would write a post on what it is and what it means to me as a Coach. Life Coaching is a practice that has been very popular in America over the last number of years and has become increasingly popular here. Career Coaching is a branch of Coaching that deals specifically with all aspect of professional and career planning.

On the 6th of January 2016 it was 7 years since I quit smoking. I've thought about writing this post numerous times, but as a previously hardcore smoker there was always that niggling fear that I wasn't quite quit yet. I’ve passed that point now and wanted to share my quit story.

Goal: 'The object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.'    Goals are one of those buzzwords we hear about all of the time, but goals are more than just a buzzword. Goals are central to any sort of life and career planning success. They are so central to successful planning that goals, and in particular goal setting, form the backbone of all coaching activity. As the saying goes; A goal without a plan is just a wish, so todays post is all about long-term goal setting.

Many people are surprised to learn that according to research you’re most likely to get your next job from someone you’ve already met. You’re also most likely to get your next job lead from an acquaintance, not a friend. This information, and the accepted necessity of networking when job-hunting makes Linked In is a great way to get started if you are actively looking for a new post or position. I use Linked In a lot, including during recruiting and hiring, and I’ve noticed some things that are really minor, but can have a big impact on whether or not we hire someone or commission work from them. There are lots of different ways to use Linked In and these are just things I've noticed through my own use for work that make it much easier for me to access or contact a prospect.

Today I want to discuss the impact extra-curricular activities can have on your career and in particular Volunteering in the place of Work Experience.
